Here is what I have to say from the last tour.
I thought I was going to Abeokuta to see a famous rock. I didn’t realize I was about to experience a piece of history, challenge myself in ways I hadn’t expected, and create memories I would want to relive long after the trip was over.
My Olumo Rock adventure with Global Convoy Travels started with the excitement of doing something different. There is something special about leaving your usual routine behind, meeting people you might never have met otherwise, and setting out to discover a place you have probably heard about but never truly experienced.
The train ride – a new experience that I absolutely loved and then, we arrived in Abeokuta.
Standing before Olumo Rock for the first time, I found myself looking up in amazement. Pictures had given me an idea of what to expect, but seeing the rock in person was a completely different feeling. There was something remarkable about knowing that this enormous natural formation had sheltered people and played a significant role in the history of the Egba people.
It suddenly felt like I wasn’t just visiting a tourist attraction. I was stepping into a story that had existed long before I arrived.
The Climb, the Views and the Food to keep us fueled for the period of the tour.
As we began exploring Olumo Rock, I realised that the experience was about much more than reaching the top. Every step offered something new to notice, whether it was the unusual rock formations, the surrounding landscape, or the stories connected to the place.
There were moments when I paused simply to take everything in and of course rest from my 100+ climbs. Of course, there was the excitement of exploring somewhere new, but there was also the satisfaction that comes from pushing yourself beyond your usual comfort zone.
And the view? It was a reminder of why travelling is worth it. Looking out across Abeokuta, I felt a sense of appreciation for how much beauty, history and culture can exist in places we sometimes overlook.
Before the tour was over, we also visited the Adire Market, the Ake Palace and the Egba Museum. Global Convoy ensured that we were as relaxed as possible throughout the journey with the snacks, food and drinks they offered at intervals.

The tour finally came to an end and between the photographs, the conversations, the laughter and the discoveries, i still struggle to pick my favourite part of it because i enjoyed every bit of the tour.
Discovering More Than Olumo Rock
One of my favourite things about the experience was realising that Abeokuta had so much more to offer. The city’s culture, traditions and local atmosphere added another dimension to the adventure.
Exploring a destination becomes more meaningful when you go beyond seeing its most famous attraction. You begin to understand the people, appreciate their heritage and notice the little details that make the place unique.
That was what made this experience special to me. It wasn’t simply about visiting somewhere new; it was about connecting with a destination in a way that photographs alone could never fully capture.

Why Travelling with Global Convoy Travels Made It Special
What I appreciated most about the experience was the opportunity to enjoy the journey alongside other people who were equally excited to explore.
Travelling with a group creates its own kind of magic. People who may have arrived as strangers begin sharing jokes, taking pictures for one another, exchanging stories and celebrating the same little discoveries.

Those moments become part of the destination itself.
With Global Convoy Travels, the experience was a reminder that travel doesn’t always have to mean boarding a plane or travelling thousands of kilometres away. Sometimes, an unforgettable adventure is waiting just a journey away.
I Came Back with More Than Photographs
Looking back, my Olumo Rock experience was about more than climbing a historic landmark. It was about discovering the richness of Nigerian tourism, appreciating our cultural heritage and giving myself the chance to experience something outside my everyday routine.
I returned with photographs, stories and memories, but also with a renewed appreciation for exploring the places around me.
If there is one thing this journey reminded me of, it is that some of the most meaningful travel experiences begin when we decide to say yes to something new.
And if you have been waiting for the perfect reason to explore Nigeria, perhaps this is your sign.
Your next adventure could begin with Global Convoy Travels.
